We seek to magnify God's glory and grace.
Who we are:
Grace Central Church was formed in 1980 with four families, (3 of whom are still active in our church!) We were the first Omaha congregation to be affiliated with the Presbyterian Church in America, a Reformed and evangelical denomination based in Atlanta. We strive to be a church planting church, having helped plant 3 churches in the Greater Omaha area, and currently helping plant a 4th in the Aksarben area in 2019.
Why we exist:
The heart and soul of why we exist is summed up in an ancient Christian creed, via the 1st question of the Westminster Shorter Catechism: “Man’s chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy him forever.”
Our core values:
Reflecting five core values of the early church in Acts 2:37-47, we hope to display the attributes of a healthy church:
Recognizing that each church will not display these in equal proportion, we pray that we may demonstrate a generous measure of all of them.
Our mission: Freeing captives through union with Christ.
The key verse for our mission as a church is Galatians 5:13: “For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.” There are two main aspects of freeing captives that are in view here:
1) Freeing those outside of Christ from the penalty of sin.
2) Freeing those in Christ from the dangers of a dispassionate and ritualistic legalism.
How we seek to accomplish our mission:
Through the outworking of our freedom, we pray that God would work in the members of Grace Central Church, causing each of us to be:
We are Reformed
We are a church committed to the historical Reformed faith. We believe in the inerrancy of Scripture, the centrality of Christ and his saving work, and the system of doctrine summarized in the Westminster Confession of Faith.
We are Evangelical
Freedom is a big part of who we are at Grace Central Church. As Christians, we have been set free, not for the purpose of license (Galatians 5:13) but for the glory of God in all things (1 Corinthians 10:31). We are freed to worship, freed to grow, freed to serve, and freed to reach.
